Your Steering Group
I have always lived in a village environment, moving here in 2015 from Bedfordshire. I worked in the motor industry for 20+ years.
My passion is horses. My interests are social history, protecting our environment and its wildlife, being part of a community.
I jointed this Parish Council in 2017. I have had training in community funding, attended monthly workshops learning how to create a neighbourhood plan. I strongly believe our villages should retain their characteristics and not lose their identities through excessive development. As a Trustee I am part of the team running the Village Hall and organising fundraising events to maintain and enhance this great facility.
I first moved to Tivetshall St Mary with my husband John in 1976, we moved out of the village in 1982 but moved back in 1987, to our current home in Rectory Road. I love living in Tivetshall and have been involved in community activities off and on throughout our time in the village.
Recently I worked as Parish Clerk to the Parish Council for three years until March 2020, was involved with Tivetshall Families and Friends for two years and I’ve been a trustee of Tivetshall Village Hall since 2018. Currently I help run a pop-up café, Tivetshall Tea Junction, with a few other volunteers. I am keen to see our village thrive whilst maintaining it’s character as an unspoilt rural community.
Born in Yorkshire in 1945 into a military family (Army) I joined the RAF at the age of 16 as a Boy Entrant. I served for 39 years as an aircraft engineer including time spent in Germany and various UK postings mainly in East Anglia. I saw active service in the South Atlantic and was also involved with the Bosnian conflict before retiring in 2000. I then started my own computer sales and service/repair business in Reepham and moved to Tivetshall four years ago to be nearer to family to offer the renowned grandparental support system! Hobbies and interests include listening to classical music, playing the electronic organ, model aircraft and computing.
My wife (Jo) and I live almost opposite the Village Hall and you will often find us walking our two dogs (the noisy ones!) around the village. We love living in Tivetshall and are very keen to join in and be part of the community and will help where we can.
I am very pleased to be able to represent the residents of Tivetshall at the Parish Council and I look forward to hearing from you if you have any concerns or ideas that you would like me to voice on your behalf
I have lived in Tivetshall for over 40 years and seen it grow but not a lot ! I have been on some of the tivetshall committees and enjoyed supporting the various activities over the years. My overriding feeling now is that in recent years the younger residents have bought a lot of enthusiasm and community spirit to the village . Our village is very spread out and I would hope it can grow in the various pockets of the community so it could all be more connected. With a good school ,post office and village hall at the heart I hope Tivetshall can develop in a well planned way that is good for the future and for attracting both younger and older people alike.
I moved into Tivetshall in 1993 to begin married life and to raise a family. My children both attended Tivetshall School and I worked there for 18 years.
I really enjoy being a part of village life and have been actively involved as a Trustee in several of our community groups including FOTS, The Village Hall, TFAF and TTJ.
It is encouraging to see a sensitive approach to the growth of our community and to have a part to play in its future.
I have lived in Tivetshall since 2013 together with my wife. I have been a Councillor now for 3 years, and joined because I want to see the community thrive, but for it to grow in a well planned and appropriate way for the rural village it is.
I am also keen to build the community spirit that is evident within our lovely village and am a Trustee for our Village Hall and was a Trustee and founding member of the Tivetshall Families & Friends group.
'I have lived in the village since 2006 with my wife, two sons, dog, various rabbits, chickens, fish and giant african land snails.
I am secretary to the Friends Of Tivetshall School (FOTS) group and I am passionate about the school - and ensuring its sustainability in the face of so many difficult challenges for small, community based, rural located schools.
I work at the University of East Anglia in planning and business development for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
The Neighbourhood Plan is an exciting project. I am looking forward to working with you to develop our ideas for what the future Tivetshalls will look like.'
I am passionate about engaging communities in shaping the places where they live and work. I have almost 20 years experience of working locally and regionally across the East of England.
In particular, I have a strong reputation for facilitating community consultation events, delivering high quality practical training and writing Neighbourhood Plans. I have worked on a range of projects, from small-scale community projects, through to the management and delivery of large regional programmes.
